Khaberni - Sanitation workers in Gaziantep, Turkey, recovered a woman's savings that had been missing for 10 years after a meticulous search among 40 tons of garbage.
The story began when the woman, Gulbiyaz Demir, went to the hospital for an MRI scan and took out four pieces of gold weighing a total of 40 grams, wrapped them in a napkin, and then placed them in her pocket.
Upon her return, she noticed they were missing, so she started searching the area and checked the surveillance camera recordings only to discover that the napkin had fallen in one of the streets and had been picked up by the municipal cleaning vehicle from "Martyr Kamil" along with the garbage.
On their part, the municipal teams began searching operations at the waste sorting facility, which contains about 40 tons of garbage, where they meticulously inspected for hours until they found the gold pieces and returned them to the woman.
Demir explained that these pieces represented her savings over ten years, expressing her immense joy and gratitude to everyone who contributed to recovering them.
On his part, Hari Yalcin, head of the waste collection facility monitoring department at Martyr Kamil Municipality, confirmed that they acted immediately upon receiving the report and focused the search in the areas where the cleaning vehicles had dumped the garbage.
He highlighted that finding the gold among tens of tons of waste is a remarkable achievement and a source of joy, emphasizing the team's dedication to handling emergency reports quickly and effectively.
