Saudi Airlines Lead Initiatives to Avoid Airbus Crisis

Khaberni - Saudi airlines have taken urgent steps to ensure the fluidity of their flights, following the announcement by the global aircraft manufacturer Airbus of an emergency software update for a large number of A320 aircraft, necessitating the inspection of about 6000 planes of this model, which is the most widespread among airlines around the world.

Saudi Airlines clarified that it continuously follows the safety guidelines issued by Airbus related to the A320 fleet globally, confirming that it is working on reviewing the technical updates to assess any potential impact on the flight schedule. It emphasized that if any modifications result from this, direct communication with passengers will be ensured to provide appropriate alternatives.

In the same context, FlyNas announced that it has recalibrated the technical software for part of its fleet, which will lead to an extended preparation period between a limited number of flights, indicating that this may cause some operational delays, according to its statement published via the X platform.

Similarly, Flyadeal stated that several of its aircraft will undergo additional calibration measures based on Airbus's directives, explaining that it has begun implementing the required precautionary steps to reset the programmatic and technical standards. The company expected that its operations would return to their normal schedule by tomorrow (Sunday). The statement mentioned that "some flights may experience changes or delays, and direct communication with passengers will be made via email and text messages, providing rebooking options and full support."

The root cause of the sudden update traces back to an incident involving a plane of the same model, which Airbus attributed to a malfunction caused by "intense solar radiation" affecting the sensitive data used in operating flight control elements, prompting the company to emphasize the need to inspect a large number of A320 airplanes before continuing to operate more of them.

According to advisory data provided by "Reuters", the total number of aircraft delivered by Airbus of this model since it entered service in 1988 is about 12260 planes, according to information from the company Serium, based in the United Kingdom.
