Khaberni - The Chairman of the commissioners' council of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, Dr. Fares Al-Breizat, received the US Ambassador to the Kingdom, Jim Holtsnider, today, Saturday, in the city of Petra.
During the visit, they discussed prospects for joint cooperation in the fields of tourism and development, especially in the areas of sustainable tourism, infrastructure development, and support for projects that contribute to serving the local community and enhancing Petra's position as a global tourist destination.
Al-Breizat confirmed the importance of the partnership with the American side, appreciating the support provided for developmental and tourist projects in the Petra Region, for its positive impact in promoting the sustainable development journey.
For his part, the US ambassador expressed his appreciation for the efforts being made by the Petra Region Authority in preserving the civilizational heritage of the Pink City and developing the tourism product, pointing out that during his tour of the archaeological site he witnessed the amount of work done in the fields of maintenance, tourist management, and improving the visitor experience.
The ambassador emphasized that the American nationality is among the nationalities that visit the city of Petra the most, reflecting its advanced status on the global tourism map, and his country's keenness to continue cooperation and support with the Jordanian side in various tourist and developmental areas
