Khaberni - The Minister of Education in Egypt announced the immediate and decisive measures against students involved in the incident of insulting a teacher inside Abdel Salam Al-Mahgoub School in Alexandria Governorate, following the circulation of a video showing unruly behavior towards the teacher in the classroom.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif decided to permanently expel the involved students for a full year, with no registration allowed in any other school before the start of the academic year 2026/2027.
The decision was made to maintain discipline within educational institutions and to prevent the recurrence of such behaviors.
In an official statement, the minister directed that details of the incident be referred to the legal affairs at the ministry to take the utmost disciplinary actions against anyone who is proven to be negligent or involved, from the school management or educational administration, reaffirming the need to uphold responsibility within the educational system and to monitor the administrative performance in schools.
The minister also emphasized that the dignity of teachers is a red line, affirming that no breach that undermines the teacher's dignity or affects their status inside the classroom will be tolerated.
He confirmed that any attempt to disrupt the school system would be dealt with through deterrent and immediate actions, considering that respect for teachers is a fundamental pillar in the success of the educational process and in achieving a disciplined educational environment for students.
It is noteworthy that the teacher Nesreen Fadil had previously submitted several official complaints to the school management and the Directorate of Education, explaining that the behaviors she faced were not an isolated incident or a momentary occurrence, but had occurred multiple times without actions being taken to stop what was happening inside the specialist’s room.
She emphasized that ignoring the complaints contributed to the continuation of the students' harassment, especially since the incident occurred against the background of a report she had filed two years ago against one of the students due to his misconduct.
On the other hand, some of the students who appeared in the video had withdrawn from participating in the mockery during the moments following the incident, and some of them apologized and attempted to clean the classroom after one of the participants threw garbage at it, as confirmed by the teacher in circulated statements.
