Khaberni - Spanish media reports have revealed that Barcelona strongly entered the race to sign English international defender Marc Guéhi, Crystal Palace's player, who is considered a main target to strengthen the back line at the Catalan club during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Signing another center-back in addition to a true striker is among the top goals of Barcelona's sports management for the next season.

Given the delicate economic situation the club is going through, Guéhi (25) represents an ideal target as his contract with Crystal Palace ends on June 30, allowing him to join as a free agent without any transfer costs.

Fierce competition for the 'gem of England'
According to "The Athletic", Barcelona is not alone in this race, as the Catalan club faces strong competition from European giants, most notably Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.

The reports indicate that Real Madrid is monitoring the situation but starts from behind at this time.

Guéhi, whose market value stands at 50 million euros according to "Transfermarkt", will have the opportunity to freely negotiate with any club starting from January 1, 2026.

With the player's desire to embark on a new experience, Crystal Palace does not rule out selling him during the winter transfer window to achieve financial gains instead of him leaving for free in the summer.

In this context, Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner stated that the decision to sell rests with the club, confirming Guéhi's full commitment to the team at present, but he added: "We are prepared for anything, but I do not know what will happen."

It should be noted that Barcelona is considering other names as alternatives to strengthen its defense next summer, among them are Nico Schlotterbeck, Gonzalo Inazio, and Upamecano.
