Khaberni - Mahmoud Khatib, president of the Egyptian Al Ahly club, has tasked his club's legal advisors with joining the defense team of Ramadan Sobhi, the club's former first-team football player, today, Friday.
Al Ahly wrote in a statement published on its "X" account: "Based on the firm principles upon which Al Ahly club was founded, and which are based on supporting its sons and standing by their side, Mahmoud El Khatib, the club president, has decided after coordination to assign the club’s legal advisor to join the defense team of Ramadan Sobhi, as one of Al Ahly’s own, in the current legal proceedings and to provide all necessary legal support, side by side with his personal lawyer."
The statement added, "Dr. Abdullah Shehata, the club's legal sports advisor, has also been tasked to provide all legal support in the doping case, in cooperation and coordination with the player's personal legal team."
Ramadan Sobhi (28 years old) currently faces two cases that could jeopardize his football career, as the International Sports Court (CAS) issued a ruling against the player suspending him for four years in the case of tampering with the doping sample.
The player is also currently accused in a case of forging an official document to take exams on his behalf, where the case has been postponed to December 30th upcoming.
Ramadan Sobhi is one of the players who progressed in Al Ahly’s youth teams before being promoted to the first team in 2014, but he left the team suddenly in September 2020 to join the Egyptian Pyramids, having had a professional stint in English football with Stoke City and Huddersfield Town between 2016 and 2019.
