Khaberni - Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo sent a congratulatory message to the players of his country's youth team, after they were crowned champions of the 2025 World Cup.
Portugal's team claimed the title of the Under-17 Football World Cup in Doha, Qatar, after defeating Austria 1-0 in the final match of the competition last Thursday.
At "Khalifa International" Stadium, Anisio Cabral heroically scored the only goal for Portugal in the 32nd minute, earning his country its first title in the tournament, which in its latest edition saw the participation of 48 teams for the first time.
Ronaldo reacted to his country's victory, posting on his Instagram account a picture of the Portugal team with the World Cup trophy and captioned it: "Giants, congratulations world champions".
Portugal joined the list of winners of the Under-17 World Cup, which first began in China in 1985, becoming the 11th team to win the title.
Nigeria holds the record for the most tournament wins with 5 titles, followed closely by Brazil with 4, while Ghana and Mexico each have two titles, and Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, England, and the former Soviet Union have each won the tournament once.
