Khaberni - The Alexandria Directorate of Education in Egypt issued an urgent statement in response to a circulating video clip that caused widespread debate.

The video shows a teacher pleading for help inside a classroom at the Abd El-Salam El-Mahgoub Official Language School, which is part of the Eastern Education Administration, after she was subjected to insult and verbal harassment by some students.

According to the statement, Dr. Arabi Abu Zaid, the Deputy Minister of Education in Alexandria, directed the formation of an urgent investigative committee to examine the circumstances of the incident, to begin its work on the morning of the following Sunday, and to take stern legal action against everyone involved in the incident.

The circulating clip — which quickly spread on social media platforms — displayed a shocking scene where several students were tampering with the contents of the class, while one of them threw a trash bin in front of the teacher's desk, as she asked them to stop amidst chaos and defiance.

The incident provoked a wave of intense anger among parents, teachers, and the public, who condemned the assault on the teacher's dignity and the decline of discipline within the schools.

In response to the incident, "Abu Zaid" issued a series of urgent instructions, including:

Organizing behavioral awareness seminars in all schools, aiming to instill values of respect, discipline, and appreciation of teachers.

Arranging regular consultation meetings with parents to involve the family in modifying student behaviors and supporting the educational process.

Emphasizing the strict implementation of the school motivation and discipline charters and taking the necessary legal actions against violating students, with the aim of restoring the teacher's dignity and protecting the educational environment from any destructive behaviors.

This stance reaffirms that the ministry will not tolerate any violation of the teacher’s dignity, amidst a broad campaign experienced by the Egyptian educational system to enhance discipline, moral values, and respect for the educational institution.

It is expected that the results of the investigation will be announced in the coming days, with the possibility of referring the involved individuals — whether students or employees — to the appropriate authorities to take disciplinary or legal actions against them, according to regulating charters.

Meanwhile, educational and societal entities are demanding a comprehensive review of the behavioral education system in schools, activating the role of educational counselors, and linking student behavior to their educational evaluation, not only the academic.

The incident remains an alarm bell: the school is not just a place for learning, but also a cradle for values, and the fall of teacher respect within it threatens the future of the entire society.
