Khaberni - In definitive statements made to "The Atlantic" magazine, the senior Ukrainian negotiator dispelled doubts with certainty about his country's stance on the issue of land concessions in exchange for peace.
The Ukrainian official emphasized that "no sane person would sign a document to concede Ukrainian land," linking this firm position to the presence of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in power, stating, "As long as Zelenskyy remains president, no one among us expects any land concessions."
Constitutional Barrier
The negotiator affirmed that the issue of concessions is not merely a political decision but a constitutional dilemma, adding, "No one can concede land unless they want to oppose the constitution."
The Frontline and the New Proposal
In contrast to the firmness on sovereignty, the negotiator showed tactical flexibility regarding the current ground reality.
He clarified, "All we can talk about now is determining the frontline, and that is what we need at this moment."
In his discussion with "The Atlantic," he revealed a new diplomatic movement, confirming that "the latest proposal" on the table "does not conflict with our interests and respects our red lines," referring to the possibility of accepting a ceasefire along the frontline without recognizing the annexation of territories to Russia.
