Khaberni - Joe Edlow, Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, announced that, under directives from President Donald Trump, a review will be conducted on all green cards issued to persons from "countries of concern".

Edlow wrote in a post on the "X" platform: "Under the direction of the President of the United States, I have been instructed to conduct a thorough and comprehensive review of every green card for every foreigner from each country of concern."

Edlow stated that protecting the country "remains of utmost importance" and that "the American people will not bear the cost of reckless resettlement policies pursued by the previous administration."

When asked for additional details, including which countries are considered "countries of concern", the administration referred to the 19 countries listed in a presidential announcement issued in June.

The 19 countries include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.

This announcement comes one day after an attack on National Guard forces in Washington, with authorities identifying the suspect as an Afghan national.

Trump uses the shooting incident on National Guard members in Washington as a justification to tighten immigration measures.
