Khaberni - The Jordanian national basketball team started its journey in the Asian qualifications for the World Cup (Qatar 2027) with a win against the Syrian team 74-59 in the match that took place today Thursday at the Prince Hamzah Hall in Al Hussein Youth City.
The game witnessed a balanced performance from the Jordanian team in both offense and defense, securing its first points in Group 3, which also includes the teams of Iran and Iraq, with a second match scheduled next Sunday in the same venue.
The qualifiers include 16 teams divided into four groups, played in a home and away format, with the top three teams from each group qualifying, except for the Qatar group, which automatically qualifies, where only two teams will advance to the second round.
In the second round, the 12 teams are divided into two groups, with the results from the first round being counted. Each team faces the teams it has not previously faced in a home and away format.
At the end of the qualifiers, the top three teams from each group, along with the best fourth-placed team, in addition to the host nation Qatar, will advance to the finals of the 2027 World Cup.
