Khaberni - The European Parliament has decided that platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and others should only be available starting at age 16.
A majority of the members of the European Parliament voted on Wednesday in favor of calling for a uniform minimum age across the European Union, allowing those aged between 13 and 16 to use these platforms with parental consent.
The deputies expressed concern about the risks to the physical and mental health of minors online, and decided that the rules should also include video platforms and virtual companions based on artificial intelligence.
Leaders of the European Union countries had announced in mid-October their support for imposing age limits on platforms like TikTok and Facebook, but they rejected transferring their national powers to Brussels.
