Khaberni - The public prosecutor in France has charged a man with the attempted murder of the former player Yann Gueho, who was previously considered one of the most prominent football talents of his generation.
Gueho (31 years old) has been in the intensive care unit of a hospital for several days, after suffering severe injuries following a knife attack in the French capital, Paris.
The British site "The Athletic" confirmed that the attack on Gueho, who spent two years in the ranks of Chelsea youth (2009-2011) and also played for the youth teams of Lille and Nantes in France, took place in the city of Choisy-le-Roi located in the southeastern suburbs of Paris on November 10, while he was with a friend.
Two days after the incident, the prosecutor's office confirmed that it had opened a judicial investigation, which resulted in charges of attempted murder and violence against a man.
Gueho was one of the most prominent French football talents when he was a teenager, and many who watched him closely considered him a future candidate for the Ballon d'Or for the best player in the world.
Lost Talent
Damian Dusou, who trained alongside Gueho at the national Clairefontaine academy for discovering young talent, said, "It was hard to tell people that he was a better talent than Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele, because everyone would answer you, are you crazy?. "
Despite his football talent, Gueho's career was halted early due to a series of off-field issues, which became clearly evident during his time in London where he was known for his "annoying behavior" among his teammates.
In 2016, Gueho was diagnosed with bipolar disorder (a mental health condition that causes severe mood swings).
The British site "Give Me Sport" mentioned that Gueho was undergoing intensive treatment for this disorder, and the recent attack has increased his family's suffering and pain.
Health Struggles
His mother Anne-Marie said, "We are going through extremely difficult days. Yan agreed to undergo a very heavy treatment for his illness, which has significantly weakened him."
She added, "To ensure he does not pose a danger to himself or others, he agreed to live with a physical energy that does not exceed 10% of his capacity. This was devastating for him considering what he was previously capable of doing. His condition has made him extremely vulnerable."
She concluded, "We trust that justice will reveal how such a tragic event could occur, and ensure full accountability for those responsible for it."
