Comprehensive Campaign to Remove Slums in the Dead Sea

Khaberni - The Jordanian Group for Free Zones and Development Areas executed a broad campaign to eliminate slums spread out on the main streets of the Dead Sea area, which were causing significant visual pollution and allowing some unregulated practices that negatively affect tourism and the area's image in front of visitors.

The campaign was fully coordinated with the relevant authorities, as part of a comprehensive plan to improve the general environment and enhance the visitors' experience, reflecting the unique tourist status of the Dead Sea as one of the most important natural sites in the world.

The group mentioned that it worked on providing an alternate and organized location for the owners of kiosks and small activities, on a beach area, which was prepared on one of the beaches near the basic facilities and services managed by the Suweimeh Municipality. The new site aims to enable these business owners to continue their work legally and safely, improve the quality of services offered to visitors, and ensure an environment characterized by order and safety.

They confirmed that this step comes as part of their vision to balance the development of the tourist area and the preservation of the locals' livelihoods, ensuring a sustainable and responsible environment that reflects the civilizational face of the Dead Sea, and contributes to promoting economic and social development in the region.
