White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt said that President Donald Trump was briefed on the shooting of two National Guard members.
She added that the White House was locked down and the Secretary of Homeland Security indicated that work is ongoing with local law enforcement authorities to gather more information.
The Washington, D.C. police said that the suspect believed to have fired on two members of the National Guard is detained.
