Khaberni - French international Pascal Cygan thanked New York Mayor Zehran Mmdani after unexpectedly reminding him that he is among the people he thinks about every morning alongside two other colleagues, and decided to gift him an Arsenal shirt from the unbeaten season in which the latter did not lose any matches before being crowned champions.
Mmdani appeared in an interview on "Adam Friedland's podcast" and said that Cygan, Marouane Chamakh, and Sebastien Squillaci are among the players who shaped his love for the London team, stating that he thinks about them "every morning".
Cygan was touched that Mmdani chose players who were not global stars; instead of bringing up Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, or Patrick Vieira, the mayor remembered the less famous ones.
Cygan explained that this loyalty is what made this gesture mean so much and thanked Mmdani publicly, saying it was "amazing that such an important person in the world would speak of him with such affection."
