Khaberni - Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Ragi criticized the statements of Ali Akbar Velayati, the advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader on international affairs, emphasizing that Lebanon's sovereignty and freedom of internal decision-making are "more important than bread and water".
The Minister said in a tweet on platform "X", today Wednesday, addressing his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, that he wished to believe that Iran does not interfere in Lebanese affairs, "until the advisor to its Supreme Leader warned the Lebanese of the consequences of disarming Hezbollah".
The Foreign Minister added that what is more important to the Lebanese is "their sovereignty, their freedom, and the independence of their internal decisions, away from ideological slogans and regional contexts that cross borders, which have destroyed Lebanon and continue to push it towards ruin".
The advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader for international affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, had stated that "the existence of Hezbollah is indispensable for Lebanon today".
Velayati added in his statements, on Wednesday, that "the ongoing Israeli aggressions and crimes against Lebanon show that the presence of Hezbollah is more important today than daily bread and water", according to what was reported by the "Tasnim" agency.
"Spreading Terror"
He also added that "Israel has not honored its commitments in the context of the ceasefire agreement, which proves once again that it does not adhere to any international laws".
Beyond that, he referred to the assassination of Haitham Al-Tabbataei, one of the top leaders of Hezbollah in the southern suburbs of Beirut a few days ago, as a "violation of Lebanon's sovereignty".
He considered that Israel "tries to spread terror among the Lebanese, yet Lebanon has proven its resilience in the face of these practices".
Velayati also saw that the ongoing Israeli violations "have shown everyone the catastrophic results of disarming Hezbollah for Lebanon", stressing that "Iran has supported and will continue to support the party".
