Khaberni - TikTok announced the launch of a new space dedicated to the management of "time and well-being", aimed at helping users organize their time and adopt more balanced digital habits.

This step is part of the platform's efforts to support the safety and well-being of its users, focusing on teenagers whose accounts come with more than 50 preset safety, privacy, and security settings activated automatically.

Features of TikTok for time management and well-being
The "time and well-being" space offers a range of digital tools and tasks that help users set their daily plans and organize their time.

Among the new features, the "Affirmational Journal" which allows users to choose customizable affirmation cards and use them daily, in addition to the "Soothing Sound Generator" that offers calming sounds like rain and sea waves to help users relax, and breathing exercises designed to support mental and physical health.

To facilitate the use of these tools, TikTok collaborated with content creators to produce tutorial videos explaining how to use the different features, including setting daily usage duration, customizing the "For You" feed, and benefiting from the "Family Pairing" feature.

Digital well-being tasks to enhance healthy habits
The new update includes four tasks within the "Your Tasks" feature that encourage users to adopt more balanced digital behaviors. These tasks include:

Sleep Hours Task: Encourages users to stop using the app during nighttime hours and practice meditation, with progress tracking over eight weeks.
Daily Screen Time Task: Helps to set specific usage times and stick to them.
Weekly Screen Time Task: Encourages users to review their weekly usage reports.
Well-being Ambassador Task: Rewards users who invite others to discover these tasks and participate in them.
These tasks are based on academic research that has shown that rigorous methods of building habits may be ineffective, and the platform has taken into account teenagers' views on the benefit of time management tools on digital media.

Initial trials showed that a larger number of users returned to the "time and well-being" space compared to previous screen time management settings, with a clear uptake in the use of the affirmational journal.
