Khaberni - Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Samirat, confirmed that the Jordanian Strategy for Digital Transformation 2026-2028 is based on a clear future vision, aimed at enabling Jordan digitally and securely, employing future technology and innovation to enhance economic and social development and improve the quality of life.
He stated that the strategy, which was recently approved by the Cabinet, is built on fundamental principles including citizen centrality, seamless services, proactivity, reliance on data, digital inclusiveness, adaptability, digitization from design, and the principle of single entry.
He explained that the strategy aims to achieve a set of strategic goals, including a comprehensive national digital economy, smart digital government services, advanced digital infrastructure, an agile legislative and regulatory environment, effective national data governance, fair digital inclusion, and active cooperation and partnerships.
He added that the strategy is based on key national enablers, including data and advanced technologies, digital payments, cybersecurity, fifth generation and fiber optics, digital identity, government platforms, skills and human resources, all aligned with the vision of economic modernization and the public sector modernization roadmap.
He noted that the strategy includes an integrated implementation plan, comprising 57 projects over the period of the strategy, covering digitization of government services, digital identity and digital signature, development of the Sanad application, data governance, digital health, digital education, cybersecurity, fifth-generation technologies, open data, green digital economy, emerging technologies and other priority areas.
Minister Samirat highlighted the importance of this strategy, stating it represents a comprehensive national step towards enhancing Jordan's digital readiness, improving government services, boosting the competitiveness of the national economy, and building a secure and effective digital ecosystem that responds to the needs of citizens and supports the investment and innovation environment, as well as constituting the implementation framework to fulfill economic modernization requirements, embodying the directions of His Majesty the King in developing government performance, and enhancing digital transformation in the Kingdom.
The Cabinet approved the Jordanian Strategy for Digital Transformation for the years 2026 – 2028 and its executive plan in its session held last Sunday.
The new strategy comes in light of the nearing end of the strategy that was set in 2020, which concludes at the end of this year. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship prepared the new strategy and its executive plan in partnership with government bodies and the private sector following a clear methodology and relying on data, in accordance with best international practices, while taking into consideration the observations presented by citizens, through the public consultation of the draft strategy.
The strategy covers key aspects including data and advanced technologies, digital payments, cybersecurity, fifth generation and optical fiber, digital identity, government platforms, and skills and human resources.
