Khaberni - In pursuit of the vision and mission of the College of Engineering at Arab University of Amman and implementing the directions of the Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widian, president of the university, with oversight by Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, the Dean of the College of Engineering, students from the Department of Architectural Engineering presented their first projects within the “Workshops and Architectural Models” course, supervised by Dr. Kamal Haddad. The project focused on designing and executing lighting models inspired by intangible sources of inspiration, reflecting the students' ability to employ imagination and creativity in producing models that combine artistic aesthetics and architectural principles.

This project was part of the engineering college’s commitment to integrating theoretical aspects with practical application in an interactive educational environment in engineering workshops. The students explored how to utilize light, color, and texture to transform an idea, feeling, or personal story into a tangible design product resembling table lamps or desk lamps. The students followed a comprehensive workflow that began with the research phase and collection of visual references, followed by generating ideas and developing concepts, drawing sketches and prototypes, and culminating in the manufacture of final models in specialized laboratories and workshops, reflecting the development of their skills and abilities to transform abstract ideas into realistic models.

During the implementation stages, the students developed their skills in reading materials and selecting suitable materials, controlling the direction of light and its intensity and visual composition, in addition to coordinating colors and textures to enhance the sensory experience for the user. The project contributed to deepening their understanding of the importance of the iterative design process in refining ideas and improving details, through preparing experimental models and receiving feedback, then redeveloping to achieve a comprehensive final product in terms of idea and execution. The students demonstrated a high level of creativity and commitment, while the final works displayed a rich diversity in sources of inspiration, and mature visual expression of each student’s individual identity, alongside high accuracy in manufacturing and modeling processes.

This project is an important step in preparing architectural engineering students at Arab University of Amman and enabling them to understand the role of the architectural model and design product in testing ideas, communicating with the user, and embodying the aesthetic and functional values that Arab University of Amman seeks to instill in its graduates.
