Khaberni - The Paris public prosecutor's office announced today, Tuesday, the arrest of four additional people in connection with the theft of valuable jewelry from the Louvre Museum, which occurred last October.
The source explained that the authorities arrested two men and two women from the Paris region this morning, as part of the ongoing investigations into this case.
The stolen items have not yet been recovered, and their total value is estimated at about 102 million US dollars. The collection includes rare archaeological pieces, including:
- An emerald and diamond necklace that Emperor Napoleon gave to his wife Empress Marie Louise
Jewelry belonging to Queens Marie Amelie and Hortense from the 19th century
A royal tiara adorned with pearls and diamonds that was owned by Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III.
Investigations are still underway to determine the circumstances of the crime and to recover the stolen treasures.
The French Ministry of Culture announced the theft of eight pieces of jewelry "of inestimable heritage value" belonging to queens, one of whom was Josephine, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, during a robbery on October 19 at the Louvre Museum, one of the world's most famous museums.
