Khaberni - "Israel Today" newspaper revealed an initiative to bring a million Jews from around the world to Israel in the coming decade.
The newspaper said in its report published today, Tuesday, that the "Israel Today" conference, which will be held next week in New York, is expected to spotlight one of the most important and ambitious initiatives discussed in Israel in recent years: "The Eleventh Million"; referring to the current population of Israel including Arabs and foreigners, which is about 10 million.
The newspaper added that it is "a comprehensive vision that Israel seeks to strengthen in the coming years, aiming to bring a million Jews to Israel from all over the world within a decade, as part of a strategic effort to boost the economy, demographics, and relations with the Jewish diaspora."
It explained that the discussion will be led by three of the most influential figures in the worlds of Jews and business: Ron Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress; businessman Sylvan Adams; and Michael Eisenberg, a major investor in advanced technology. They will be joined by leaders of the Jewish community in New York.
According to the newspaper, "This initiative comes at a time when Israel is facing a growing need to enhance its human resources, alongside a desire to renew trust and connection with the Jews of the world."
It stated that "According to the visionaries, millions of Jews currently live in places where Jewish identity is being tested, partly due to the rising anti-Semitism and political change in New York." It added that "Israel aims to become a destination that provides security and social stability and exceptional career opportunities."
Official Israeli estimates indicate that there are about 15.7 million Jews worldwide, including 7.4 million in Israel and about 6.3 million in the United States, with large communities in France, Canada, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Russia, Germany, Australia, and others.
Israel repeatedly calls for Jews around the world to immigrate to it, claiming that it is "the homeland of the Jews."
The Israeli government exploits crises and political developments in the world to call for Jews to immigrate to Israel.
One of the latest of these calls was a plea by ministers in the Israeli government for Jews in New York to immigrate following the election of Zahran Mamdani, the first Muslim mayor of the city, on November 5.
