Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Al-Safadi confirmed that Jordan is capable of sending more than 250 humanitarian aid trucks daily to the Gaza Strip; as soon as Israel lifts its restrictions on the entry of aid.
Al-Safadi stressed during a press conference with his German counterpart, Johann David Fadiful in Berlin on Tuesday, that more than 90% of the population in the sector now needs humanitarian relief, pointing out that the Israeli restrictions imposed on the opening of crossings “have no justification that is legal or humanitarian,” and that lifting them is a pressing necessity to stop the exacerbation of the ongoing humanitarian disaster.
He said that Jordan relies on the German role in supporting the efforts to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza, confirming that "the improvement in the pace of aid entry does not negate the fact that the humanitarian situation in the sector is still disastrous."
Al-Safadi pointed out that the challenges are still significant, with the consolidation of a ceasefire in the sector being of the utmost importance, adding that achieving fair peace in the Middle East starts with enabling the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights, including establishing their independent state.
Al-Safadi explained that Jordan is part of the efforts made to resolve the conflict and to reach a fair and comprehensive solution, emphasizing "we must look at sufficient security mechanisms to ensure security for Palestinians and Israelis."
He added that the whole world agrees that there is no alternative to a two-state solution, emphasizing the importance of staying united and protecting the two-state solution to achieve it.
Al-Safadi said that the Gaza Strip must remain an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territories, and Israel must withdraw from the sector.
Al-Safadi expressed Jordan's appreciation for the support that Germany provides to the Kingdom, confirming Amman's aspiration to enhance cooperation between the two countries. He also praised the German efforts in supporting peace initiatives in Ukraine and the Middle East.
