German Foreign Minister Requests Israel to Reopen Allenby Crossing for Goods Transfer

Khaberni - German Foreign Minister Johann David Fadivol confirmed on Tuesday that the improvement in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is due to Jordan's significant efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid aimed at improving the lives of residents in the sector.

Fadivol, during a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi in Berlin, stated that he requested the Israeli Foreign Minister to urgently reopen the Allenby Crossing for goods transfer to facilitate the arrival of relief supplies to the people of Gaza and improve the humanitarian situation.

He added that it is necessary to implement the plan of President Donald Trump, which includes 20 points for ending the war in Gaza, considering that the United Nations Security Council’s vote in favor of an American resolution supporting Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza, which includes deploying an international force and a path to a Palestinian state, is an important step towards stabilizing Gaza.

Fadivol emphasized the importance of implementing this resolution on the ground.

Regarding the current situation, Fadivol said: "A new phase of the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel has come into effect today, and since the implementation of this agreement in October, we have noticed a noticeable improvement in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip."

Despite the improvement, the German Foreign Minister noted that the United Nations decided to send 4,200 humanitarian trucks weekly to Gaza, but there is a sharp shortage of tents and medical equipment. Fadivol stressed the need for the non-governmental humanitarian organizations that have been working in Gaza for a long time to be able to resume their work there, calling on Israel to resolve the issue of registering these organizations to ensure the continuity of their work.

On the Ukrainian issue, Fadivol confirmed that the international efforts aimed at ending the Russian war on Ukraine continue intensively, welcoming the recent engagement of the American government in constructive dialogue in Geneva between Germany, France, Britain, Ukraine, and the United States.

He added: "I met with my colleagues yesterday to discuss the situation in Ukraine, and today there are dialogues at the level of heads of state and government, and tomorrow an informal meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council will be held. We are intensively working with Ukraine with the aim of achieving lasting peace in the region."

The German Foreign Minister pointed out that the goal of ending the war in Ukraine requires all possible efforts, but it is essential to make the right decisions that ensure a fair, lasting, and decisive peace, while avoiding any decisions that might encourage Russian President Vladimir Putin to launch the next attack or undermine the sovereignty of the European Union or NATO.

Fadivol said: "Ukraine emphasized significant developments in the peace plan, and peace should emerge from this plan. It is important to remember that Putin started the war and is responsible for ending it. If he wishes for peace, he must show a genuine readiness to negotiate."

He added: "We are committed to continuing work with our international partners to ensure the end of this war and achieve sustainable peace in Europe."
