Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality Committee, during its session held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, approved a wide range of twinning and cooperation agreements with Arab and international cities, as well as approved the extension of a 75% exemption for horticultural agricultural goods prepared for export until the end of 2026.
Among the foremost decisions, the committee approved extending the decision to exempt agricultural goods prepared for export from the fees imposed by the wholesale markets system, to support Jordanian exports and enhance the agricultural sector's competitiveness in foreign markets.
The committee also approved the draft twinning agreement with its counterpart "Commune of Rabat", as part of a strategic partnership between the city of Rabat and the city of Amman, aimed at enhancing sustainable urban development, developing municipal services, and exchanging expertise in the fields of urban planning, infrastructure, and preservation of the shared cultural heritage between the two cities.
In the same context, the committee approved the draft twinning agreement with the Municipality of Doha, aimed at developing mutual cooperation and exchanging best practices in local administration, smart infrastructure, public transport, and digital transformation.
Additionally, the committee approved the draft memorandum of understanding with Barcelona Municipality to support the development of municipal services and enhance institutional modernization, alongside approving the draft memorandum of understanding with the City of Seoul to enhance prosperity, resilience, and well-being of the population in both cities.
On the local level, the committee approved the cooperation agreement with Asrar Al Maarifa Company for vocational training in the fields of sustainable development and environmental management, in addition to the draft memorandum of understanding with the Jordan River Foundation to support its interventions, projects, monitoring programs, guidance, and capacity building for beneficiaries.
These decisions are part of Amman Secretariat's strategy to enhance its international relations network and expand areas of technical and institutional cooperation, contributing to the development of the service system and improving the quality of life in the capital.
