Khaberni - The media spokesperson for the Amman Secretariat, Nasser Al-Rahamneh, stated that intense rainfall experienced by the capital, Amman, on Tuesday afternoon, over a short period, caused water levels to rise on several roads in the capital.
Al-Rahamneh explained that a flood from one of the sewage manholes in the Shmeisani area led to increased water accumulation on the street, following some citizens and buildings improperly connecting their roof drains to the sewage manholes, adding that such behavior is a violation.
The Secretariat constantly renews its warnings against these practices, which cause flooding and disrupt drainage networks, emphasizing that the law penalizes those who engage in them.
Several areas in the kingdom experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday, accompanied by lightning and thunder, due to Jordan being affected by unstable weather conditions.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather on Tuesday will be unstable and slightly cold in most areas, partly cloudy to cloudy, with rain showers in some parts of the western regions of the kingdom.
The meteorological department expects the rain to be heavy at times, leading to the formation of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea areas, possibly accompanied by thunder and hail in some regions.
