Khaberni - Cologne Bonn Airport in western Germany witnessed a security incident, after two late passengers attempted to reach their Bucharest-bound plane in a violent manner. Federal police reported on Monday that the two men, aged 28 and 47, broke the glass of an emergency switch and unlocked an emergency door before running across the airport tarmac towards the aircraft.
A spokesperson for the federal police clarified that an airport security officer managed to stop them until police reinforcements arrived, adding, "There was no threat to aviation safety."
According to the spokesperson, a criminal investigation has been initiated against the two men for breaching airport security and potentially violating aviation security laws. The spokesperson noted that the men had missed their boarding time and tried to catch their flight in this violent manner, but naturally, they were unable to travel after the incident.
