Khaberni - The rapid development of artificial intelligence and its deployment seems to also have rapid effects on the technology sector and its workers.
The story began with the strong rise of the intelligent chat application Chat GPT, passing through the launch of "Google's" Gemini model, along with competition and jockeying from other companies such as "Microsoft" and "Anthropic".
The competition did not stop there, and moved to artificial intelligence agents, which are experiencing fierce competition among companies in an attempt to refine these agents with greater capabilities.
Within this conflict, Google expanded its artificial intelligence programming tool "Opal" to include 160 countries around the world.
"Opal" allows anyone using it to create customized smart applications without the need to write any programming line, a move that enhances the company's approach towards making artificial intelligence development accessible to everyone.
Opal AI allows users to build their applications simply by describing what they want in words, and the tool takes care of creating the application automatically using an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface.
These significant capabilities of the "Opal" tool have sounded the alarm for programmers, so will their job disappear?
Mohammad Al-Harthi, a technology expert, says that artificial intelligence agents are now used in programming, building, and designing the user interface, as well as building the management of the technological system known as "backend".
He continued in his talk with "Al Arabiya Business": "So far, artificial intelligence agents cannot perform the process completely accurately, and the execution accuracy ranges between 60 and 70%, with software developers completing the task."
Al-Harthi believes that artificial intelligence is developing very rapidly, and therefore, within a year, artificial intelligence agents will be able to build the entire system for applications and software with extreme accuracy.
He affirmed his opinion saying: "The future is not for programmers, but for developers of artificial intelligence and machine learning."
This is the bad side of the story according to Al-Harthi, but the positive side is the increased capabilities of small companies to build a complete technological system using artificial intelligence agents, which contributes to the emergence of more creative ideas and unconventional solutions.
He believes that the profession of programming will disappear, but in its place will emerge jobs of artificial intelligence developers and developers of artificial intelligence agents.
