Khaberni - Mohanned Al-Khatib, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, confirmed that the application for benefiting from university grants and loans offered through the Student Support Fund in official universities will start at the end of this current month
Al-Khatib added that the applications will be submitted electronically through the Directorate of Missions website, explaining that the unified application allows competition for all types of scholarships and loans available to the beneficiaries.
Al-Khatib estimated that the number of students covered by scholarships and loans during the current academic year would be about 56,000 students, compared to 53,000 included last year.
Al-Khatib emphasized that submitting the electronic application is a fundamental condition for obtaining any scholarship from the Student Support Fund, affirming that there are no exceptions even for top students.
He clarified that the application period will last only from one week to 10 days.
Al-Khatib explained that after receiving the applications, they will be verified and points calculated and announced, then the objection period will be opened. After that, the ministry will review the applications and objections and move to the nomination phase and announce the final lists.
He noted that humanitarian cases would receive an additional 100 points added to the basic 1000 points, and include the following situations: a student whose husband has died or who is divorced and has custody of children, death of both parents, tribal exile, or if the family head is a person with disabilities, provided they have an identification card issued by the Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
