Khaberni - The Armenian Premier Futsal League witnessed one of the strangest and biggest results in the history of the sport globally, as the Alashkert team fell to a harsh defeat with the score of 98-1 against its rival Yerevan, in a match that will remain in memory for a long time, not only because of the astounding score but also because of how it happened.

A Goal Every 25 Seconds

The match was held over two halves, each lasting 20 minutes, yet the proceedings seemed outside any competitive standards, as Alashkert's net conceded 98 goals in just 40 minutes, averaging about a goal every 25 seconds, a number which approaches the impossible in futsal matches that are known for having a relatively high number of goals, but not to this extent.

33-0 in the First Half and 65 Goals in the Second

The victorious team sealed the first half with a significant lead of 33-0, before adding another 65 goals in the second half amidst the complete collapse of Alashkert's defenses and players' efforts, ending the match with a score of 98-1, which became the talk of the local fans and social media platforms.

Shocking Numbers

This loss is not an isolated event, as Alashkert has been suffering from disastrous results since the beginning of the season. In just five matches of the Armenian Premier Futsal League, the team has conceded 196 goals while only scoring 20 goals, averaging a loss of 39-4 per match, reflecting a significant imbalance in the levels of the participating teams in the championship.

"Unbalanced League"

The Armenian Premier Futsal League is known for having significant disparities between clubs, leading to unbalanced results in some seasons, yet the score of 98-1 exceeded all possible limits and opened the door to numerous questions regarding the quality of competition, financial and technical differences between teams, in addition to the absence of clear standards in forming clubs and monitoring their levels.

Wave of Anger and Mockery

The result sparked a wave of angry and mocking comments on social media, while some considered it an indicator of the need to reconsider the championship's regulations and club participation requirements, to prevent the recurrence of such matches which weaken the reputation of the competition locally and internationally.
