Khaberni - The treasures of the Titanic continue to captivate the world to this day, among them is a pocket watch inlaid with 18-carat gold of the "Jules Jurgensen" make, belonging to Isidor Straus, a first-class passenger on board the Titanic, which was recently sold for a record $2.34 million USD, making it the highest sum ever recorded for a Titanic memorabilia item.

A report mentioned that after the sinking, the watch, which was a gift for Isidor’s 43rd birthday in 1888, was recovered and returned to their family.

The watch was auctioned at "Henry Aldridge and Son" in England, fetching a price of 1.78 million British pounds, approximately 2.34 million US dollars. Also sold was a letter written by Mrs. Straus on official Titanic stationery and sent while aboard the ship for 100,000 British pounds (131,000 dollars).

The previous record at Titanic memorabilia auctions was held by another gold pocket watch, presented to a lifeboat captain who saved over 700 passengers from the ship, which sold last year for 1.56 million British pounds (about 2.05 million dollars).
