Khaberni - A scene depicting the death of actress Zeina at the hands of actor Mohamed Farag in the series "Roses and Chocolate" has sparked a crisis between the creators of the work and the Egyptian Bar Association, after a lawyer and a member of the association's council filed a complaint with the Supreme Council for Media.

The lawyer expressed severe disapproval of the content of the series, clarifying that the verdict in case number 10229 of 2022, Baderashin felonies, definitively proved that the culprit was a judge in the Council of State.

He considered that what was presented in the drama cannot be classified as creative or artistic treatment, but rather is a falsification of reality and a distortion of facts in its precise legal sense, "leading to the misguidance of public opinion and harm to a legally protected position, as well as intentional insult to the legal profession."

A member of the association's council confirmed that the creators of the series resorting to changing the real identity of the accused to avoid referencing a judge, and replacing it with a lawyer’s profession, represents an unacceptable and dangerous approach that necessitates investigation and accountability.

Tuffaha demanded the Supreme Council for Media Regulation to intervene immediately to stop the airing of the series and to open an urgent investigation into the instance of distortion and hold those responsible accountable.

Mohamed El Adl Responds to the Complaint of the Bar Association

In his initial response to the criticisms of the Bar Association, the director Mohamed El Adl, director of the work, said: "The series is inspired by real events, and is not related to any particular case, and it includes more than just one true story."

The Case of Shaima Jamal

This crisis followed after a scene depicted Mohamed Farag ending Zeina's life and killing her inside a farm, with the help of his friend, to rid themselves of her after a passionate love story between them within the events, leading the audience to link the story of the series to the murder case of broadcaster Shaima Jamal, which shook public opinion over the last two years, a connection not confirmed by the creators of the series, especially since the main character in the series appeared as a lawyer, not a judge, which drew criticisms from the Bar Association.
