Khaberni - The mother of the late Egyptian journalist Shaimaa Jamal expressed her deep shock after watching the events of the eighth episode from the series "Roses and Chocolate," which caused widespread controversy among the audience because it portrayed a murder scene of the character played by actress Zeina in a realistic and direct way, which brought to mind the case of her daughter’s murder.
The episode focused on how the crime was carried out by the husband character, played by actor Mohamed Farag. He lured the victim under the pretext of visiting a new house, then hit her on the back of the head with a heavy tool before strangling her, using a corrosive chemical to hide the traces of the crime, and then buried the body in an unknown location.
Viewers reacted widely on social media platforms, noting the great similarity between the details of "Zeina's" murder in the series and the actual crime committed by Shaimaa Jamal’s husband, former advisor Ayman Hajjaj, and his partner Hussein Al-Gharabli, which ended with the execution of the accused after exhausting all judicial procedures and obtaining approval from the Mufti and the presidency.
In media statements, Shaimaa Jamal’s mother said, "I went into complete collapse after watching the fictional scene of Zeina’s death, as if I was seeing my daughter being killed in front of me again."
When asked about her opinion on the performance of the show’s leads, the mother said, "To the actress Zeina, you are in a new birth and shine, you gained more stardom, and you added sweetness to the role.. As for Mohamed Farag, I adore his performance; he embodied the character of Ayman Hajjaj as it is, with the same eye look and sharp style, and I commend him for this wonderful performance.. But if there is any excess in the series, I will not let it go and will confront the production company."
It is noted that the actual crime took place in June 2022, when the Egyptian security forces found the body of Shaimaa Jamal buried inside a farm south of Giza, and investigations revealed that the former advisor Ayman Hajjaj, who was married to her informally, committed the crime with his partner Hussein Al-Gharabli, following severe disputes.
The investigation showed that the main accused had filed a missing report for his wife before the crime was uncovered in an attempt to mislead, but a testimony from one of his close associates led the security agencies to uncover the truth, and forensic evidence confirmed the premeditated planning of the murder using violence and strangulation, along with attempts to disfigure the body.
In August of the previous year, the death sentence was executed against the accused.
