Khaberni - Deodorant is one of the health products that most people use daily without thinking, but experts from the International Hyperhidrosis Society confirm that the ideal way to use it differs from what many believe.
Instead of applying it in the morning, experts suggest that the best time to apply deodorant is at night, right before going to sleep. The medical team explains the reason: "Sweat production is at its lowest at night, which gives the active ingredients in the deodorant enough time to reach the skin's pores and prevent sweating at sunrise and at the start of daily activity."
The experts also point out a fundamental difference between deodorant and antiperspirants:
Antiperspirants contain aluminum compounds that temporarily block sweat pores to reduce the amount of visible sweat.
Deodorants focus on eliminating bad odor, but they do not prevent sweating itself, often containing alcohol and fragrances to mask the smell.
Most modern products are a combination of deodorants and antiperspirants, making them effective against both sweat and odor at the same time.
The medical team advises applying only a thin layer of the product at night to avoid affecting morning clothes, noting that trimming underarm hair helps the product reach the skin and reduces the accumulation of sweat, oils, and bacteria.
The experts also emphasize the importance of understanding the root cause of sweating: "Manage your stress and learn how to control it to reduce sweating caused by stress, and there are also specialized medical treatments that your doctor can advise you about if necessary."
