Khaberni - The website "Aponet.de" reported that nasal irrigation offers multiple benefits by removing dust, pollen, and other impurities, assisting in mucus dissolution, therefore possibly reducing the symptoms of sinus inflammation, allergies, colds, and the flu.

The site, which serves as the official gateway for German pharmacists, explained that when using a nasal douche, it is advised to use only distilled, sterilized, or previously boiled and well-cooled water.

Tap water is not suitable due to its potential to contain small amounts of pathogens like waterborne amoebas, which may exist in biofilms on the inner walls of water supply systems, and can cause severe infections.

It is also necessary to enrich the nasal douche water with table salt, as salt-free water can irritate the mucous membranes. Special additives are available in pharmacies.

How to Use
Regarding how to use it, "Aponet.de" clarified that one should bend over the sink and tilt the head sideways to prevent any liquid from entering the open mouth, while ensuring to breathe through the open mouth to prevent the solution from reaching the throat.

Subsequently, place the nozzle of the nasal douche on the upper nostril opening and begin the rinse, while the liquid will be discharged through the lower nostril opening, then switch sides. After finishing, the device should be cleaned and dried thoroughly.
