American optimism in Geneva about the possibility of quickly agreeing on a peace plan in Ukraine

Khaberni - U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio expressed great optimism on Sunday, after talks with Ukrainian and European officials in Geneva where they achieved "significant progress" regarding President Donald Trump’s plan to stop the war in Ukraine.

The talks lasted for hours at the Washington mission headquarters in the Swiss city.

Among the attendees from the American side were Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, and the Supreme Commander of NATO forces in Europe, General Alexsos Greencoish.

Rubio told reporters, "I believe we have made significant progress," adding, "I am very optimistic that we will reach our goal within a very reasonable period of time, very soon."

The minister stated earlier on Sunday that these talks "are probably the most productive and important... so far in this entire process," but he acknowledged that "there is still work to be done."

In turn, the chief Ukrainian negotiator Andriy Yermak, who is the director of the presidential office, said, "We have made very good progress, and we are moving forward towards the just and lasting peace that the Ukrainian people deserve."

However, the officials did not reveal any details about the discussions on the American plan, which consists of 28 points and aims to end the ongoing conflict with Russia for about four years.

U.S. President Donald Trump had given his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky until November 27 to respond, before indicating on Saturday that the plan was not his "final offer" to resolve the conflict.

The initial version of the document was met with objections from Kyiv and its European allies who came to Geneva on Sunday seeking to amend it.
