Khaberni - Minister of State for Legal Affairs Fayyad Al-Qadi, on Sunday, said that the amended bill for the military service and reserve service law for the year 2025, unanimously approved by the Senate as received from the House of Representatives, does not include a provision for postponing military service for the person supporting his family or married.

Al-Qadi added that the employment rights of the person who is called for service are preserved, explaining that the person who serves returns to his job after finishing the service.

He indicated that the provision for postponing military service was amended to restrict the service to students within the kingdom, explaining that a student studying abroad can have their service postponed if they can prove their enrollment in studies abroad, or if they are residing permanently with their family outside Jordan.

He continued that the bill also included that students who study on a yearly system are entitled to postponement.

He noted that military service was two years in the past, and it was amended in the bill to be 3 months and is organized into three batches.

He pointed out that selection would be by lottery, and whoever is chosen must join unless they are eligible for postponement or exemption.

He highlighted that a provision giving priority in appointment to those who complete military service was canceled after the service period was changed to only 3 months.
