Europe Proposes Amendment to Trumps Plan to End War in Ukraine

Khaberni - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said today, Sunday, that he is not convinced of the possibility of reaching an acceptable solution for Ukraine based on the American 28-point plan, within the deadline set by President Donald Trump by Thursday.
According to Deutsche Welle, Merz added on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg that he has submitted his own proposal, which is currently under discussion in the Geneva negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, on how to at least take a first step by Thursday, indicating that the plan's many points make it difficult to cover in 5 days.
For her part, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that Ukraine's borders cannot be changed by force, nor can its army be left vulnerable to attack, highlighting the necessity for the European Union to play a pivotal role in any peace agreement in Ukraine.
A document showed that Europeans have provided a modified version of the United States' peace plan for Ukraine, stepping back from the proposed limits for Ukrainian armed forces and the territorial concessions proposed by Kyiv.
The document, prepared for the discussions on the plan in Geneva, suggests that the maximum limit for the Ukrainian armed forces should be 800,000 soldiers "in peacetime" instead of the comprehensive maximum of 600,000 proposed by the American plan. It also specifies that "negotiations on land swaps will start from the front line".
