Hezbollah Confirms Assassination of Its Chief of Staff Haitham alTabatabai

Khaberni - Lebanese Hezbollah confirmed the assassination of its Chief of Staff, Haitham al-Tabatabai, in an Israeli raid on Harat Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the strike resulted in the death of 5 individuals and injured 28 others, while the raid affected several floors of the building and caused significant damage to the structure and surrounding areas.

In a statement, the Israeli occupation army reported that the strike was carried out under the direction of the Military Intelligence Division, targeting the Chief of Staff of Hezbollah, Haitham Ali al-Tabatabai.

Hezbollah described the attack as "crossing a red line," while Lebanese President Jozef Aoun called on the international community to intervene to stop the Israeli attacks.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam emphasized on protecting the citizens and preventing the country from sliding towards an open escalation, affirming the continuation of political and diplomatic work with brotherly and friendly countries to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

The attack comes amid Israel's intensification of its strikes in Lebanon since the ceasefire on November 27, 2024, targeting Hezbollah leaders and facilities in the southern suburbs.

According to the Ministry of Health, the Israeli strikes since the ceasefire have resulted in the deaths of more than 331 individuals and injured 945 others in various incidents.
