Khaberni - Weather specialists at the Arab Weather Center reported that the kingdom and the region will enter a state of atmospheric instability starting from the early hours of Tuesday, continuing throughout the day until it weakens in the evening.
This unstable weather condition is due to the influx of a cold basin in the upper layers of the atmosphere combined with an active response from the Red Sea depression from the south, which leads to the formation of thunderclouds in random areas of the kingdom, bringing varied intensity rains accompanied by thunderstorms and possibly hail showers in some areas.
The weather condition starts at dawn and morning on Tuesday and continues throughout the day, beginning to weaken and retreat during the night hours and dawn on Wednesday.
The condition is characterized by its random nature, which means that the rainfall will not be consistent in terms of timing, location, and intensity.
It is expected that the condition will be accompanied by heavy rainfall within narrow geographic ranges, and may include hail showers. The risks of floods, transported floods, and flash floods increase in such situations, especially in the Jordan Valley areas.
The rains are accompanied by thunderstorms and possibly lightning in some areas, especially in exposed areas.
Flash floods are defined as: Floods that form very quickly after heavy rainfall in a limited area and within a short time period.
These floods are among the most dangerous types because they occur suddenly, and often sweep away everything in their path including vehicles, people, or property, usually occurring in mountainous areas or slopes.
Whereas transported floods (RUNOFF FLOODS): are the floods that reach a certain area from distant areas that have not experienced rainfall, meaning their source is usually from the high mountains towards the valleys and low areas.
These waters move through the channels of the valleys to reach low areas, and may surprise the residents there even though the weather may be stable there.
