The spinal surgery department at Prince Hamzah Hospital witnessed a distinctive medical achievement represented in a complex surgical intervention to correct scoliosis of the spinal column in one of the patients suffering from severe vertebral deformity.
The operation was performed using advanced surgical navigation equipment, which allowed high precision in dealing with severe structural deformities, and facilitated the guiding of surgical tools within a safe and ideal path.
The operation also included the removal of specific parts of the posterior extremities of the vertebrae to achieve the required correction and restore the natural balance and alignment of the spinal column.
This precise procedure was carried out under continuous nerve monitoring system (Intraoperative Neuromonitoring) to ensure the safety of neurological functions throughout the stages of the operation.
This surgical intervention was led by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Qasim, a specialist in spinal and congenital deformities surgery, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Tarawneh, head of neurosurgery department, with the participation of the residents: Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Noman (neurosurgery resident), and Dr. Ahmad Al-Rawashdeh (orthopedic surgery resident), in addition to the anesthesia team led by Dr. Rasem Abdel Razzaq
