Khaberni - The Directorate of Awqaf of Al-Balqa Governorate, in collaboration with Al-Balqa Applied University, launched on Sunday the "Silent Preacher" initiative aimed at integrating the deaf community into religious discourse.
The initiative aims to enable participants to use sign language to explain the Friday sermon and to learn the Quran, in addition to the lessons of preaching and guidance for the deaf in an elegant and gentle manner that respects their privacy and facilitates their understanding of their religion and daily life.
After the course is completed, the participants will be distributed to a number of main mosques in the governorate.
Dr. Taleb Al-Awamleh, Director of Awqaf of Al-Balqa Governorate, stressed that the initiative represents a significant leap in missionary work as it targets a segment of the community and contributes to their integration and empowerment to receive sermons and preaching in a language they understand.
This initiative is one of the distinguished models and the first of its kind at the level of the kingdom, highlighting the development of religious communication tools and expanding the umbrella of discourse to include everyone without exception in a humanitarian form that enhances community solidarity and cohesion.
