A Treasure in the Spiders Web The Most Expensive and Rarest Superman Book Saves a Family From Poverty

Khaberni - Three siblings discovered something that changed their lives forever while cleaning their late mother's apartment in California, an original copy of one of the earliest Superman comics, dating back to the first issue released in June (June) 1939 about the adventures of the Man of Steel.

The copy, described by Heritage Auctions as the "pinnacle of comic book collecting," sold at a public auction for a record price of $9.12 million, exceeding the previous record by $3 million.

The vice president of the auction house, Lon Allen, said that the two brothers, who chose to withhold their names, found six comic books including the first issue of Superman in their mother’s attic, hidden under a pile of newspapers, surrounded by spider webs.

Allen added that their mother had kept the collection since the Great Depression until the beginning of World War II, and that Northern California's climate helped preserve the books in excellent condition.

Thanks to the assessment by CGC, the first issue received a grade of 9.0 out of 10, surpassing the previous record of 8.5, making it the most expensive comic book ever sold.

The younger brother expressed his astonishment in a press statement: "The box had been forgotten in the attic for years, and with the pressures of everyday life, forgetting it became natural. But last Christmas, the past returned to reveal this unique piece, which is not just an old book, but a testament to memory and family."
