Khaberni - Dermatologists criticized a new brand of children's skin care launched by a famous actress, and described it as "gloomy" for its innovation of face masks for children at the age of four, warning that the beauty industry is now expanding from teenagers to young children.

This comes at a time when an increasing number of brands are entering the children and adolescents' skin care market, with the first skin care brand designed for children under 14 launched in the United States last October according to The Guardian.

A number of brands have grown in popularity among very young social media users, leading to a phenomenon known as "Sephora kids," where children share video clips showcasing cosmetic products from various brands.

An actress with 35.2 million social media followers launched a hydrogel skin care mask for children, saying it was "inspired" by her daughters. She added that she wanted to create something "fun, gentle, and safe."

Unnecessary Risks

This trend has been met with strong backlash from dermatologists, where Dr. Emma Wedgeworth, a UK dermatology consultant, described it as "ridiculous" according to the newspaper.

She said: "I believe these products are absolutely unnecessary. When we look at what we put on children's skin, we need to balance the benefits and the risks, and in this case, there are no real benefits, we are exposing children to unnecessary risks. It's important to be a good role model in how to maintain healthy skin, without overemphasizing appearance or scrutinizing the look of their skin. At this age, skin care should be purely practical: gentle cleansing, moisturizing if the skin is dry, and sun protection. Quick-dissolving cleansers or scented products do not support the skin barrier in any way."

She added that very young children are naturally not self-conscious, and we don't want to encourage them to focus on appearance or cause them to worry about the look of their skin.

She explained that children's skin is sensitive, and exposing them to multiple unnecessary chemicals increases the risk of irritation and allergies later on.
