Putins Envoy Peace Plan Seeks to End Ukraines Losses in Land and Lives

Khaberni - Kirill Dmitriev, Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy for investment and economic cooperation, said on Friday that the United States' plan to end the war in Ukraine aims to prevent more Ukrainian casualties and loss of territory.

Several sources and other media reported that the plan to end the ongoing four-year war was the result of backchannel talks between Dmitriev and Steve Witkoff, the special envoy for U.S. President Donald Trump.

On Friday, Dmitriev wrote on X in English, "Due to the propaganda of war advocates, many people are unaware that Trump's peace plan is designed to save Ukraine from losing more land and lives."

He continued, "Closely watch the attackers of the peace plan and how they benefit from a never-ending war."

Dmitriev, head of the Russian sovereign wealth fund, has made several visits to the United States to strengthen relations with Trump administration officials.

The plan, which was presented to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday, involves significant Ukrainian concessions including the surrender of large areas of land and the reduction of its army size.

Zelensky said on Friday that the plan risks Ukraine losing its dignity and freedom or Washington's support.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibeha on X

on Friday said he conducted "an important and timely group call" regarding peace proposals with diplomats, including his counterparts from France, Britain, Poland, and Finland.

Sibeha wrote, "I briefed them on the outcomes of the recent contacts made by President Zelensky, and we outlined our next steps. We discussed in detail the elements of the peace proposals introduced by the United States and our joint efforts to pave a viable way towards a fair peace."
