Khaberni - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ordered the army, the Bolivarian armed groups, and members of the popular defense forces today, Friday, to protect the vital sites in the country such as oil, gas, and electricity facilities, amid reports about the possibility of the United States conducting military operations against Venezuela.

In statements broadcasted by the official media, Maduro accused the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of attempting to execute a plan aimed at sabotaging strategic facilities in the country to harm the Venezuelan economy.

This development comes after the Venezuelan president issued instructions to deploy heavy weapons and missiles in the region overlooking the Caribbean coast, in response to US military movements in the area.

The official Venezuelan television "VTV" conveyed statements by Maduro regarding the new defensive measures about the capital, Caracas, and La Guaira State on the Caribbean coast on Thursday.

Maduro reported that he had given instructions to deploy heavy weapons and missiles in the mentioned areas, saying, "There is a comprehensive defensive plan for the entire Caracas-La Guaira line. Detailed street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood. All systems of heavy weapons and missiles will be ready for action."

Earlier, the Venezuelan president expressed his readiness to talk with his American counterpart Donald Trump, and had previously announced the mobilization of forces totaling 4.5 million people in the country and his readiness to repel any attack.

The Trump administration accused Maduro of leading drug trafficking towards US territories, and American media reports talked about Trump receiving plans from military leaders and his administration's efforts to change the regime in Venezuela.

In addition to Venezuela, the American president hinted at targeting drug cartels in Mexico and Colombia.

The American Mobilization

The United States has mobilized a significant force in the Caribbean near Venezuela, including its most advanced aircraft carrier "USS Gerald Ford" and other warships.

The aircraft carrier Ford crowns the largest mobilization of American firepower in the region in generations, and with its arrival, the mission "Operation Southern Spear" includes approximately 12 warships and about 12,000 sailors and marines.

Over the past few weeks, US forces have carried out airstrikes targeting boats in the Caribbean and the Pacific, which Washington says are used in drug smuggling.

The death of several people, including fishermen, as a result of the American attacks has sparked controversy regarding extrajudicial killings in the international community.

In August, Trump issued an executive order calling for increased use of the military under the pretext of combating drug cartels in Latin America.
