Khaberni - The Supreme Egyptian Council for Media Regulation announced in an official statement its decisions issued against the media personalities Basma Wahba and Yasmin Khateeb, which include banning them from appearing on all media channels subject to Law No. 180 of the year 2018 for a period of 3 months, due to violations of professional standards and controls observed by the General Administration for Monitoring.

The statement confirmed that the Council, chaired by Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, approved the recommendation of the Complaints Committee, headed by the media personality Essam El Amir (the council’s deputy), to mandate all media platforms to ban Basma Wahba from appearing for 3 months, with a warning directed to her Instagram account after detecting a post that violated the law. A similar decision was issued regarding the media personality Yasmin Khateeb, banning her appearance for the same duration and directing a warning to her official Facebook account due to a violating post.

The decisions of the Complaints Committee – in its meeting on November 17th – included summoning several officials responsible for managing social media accounts, including those of Basma Wahba and Yasmin Khateeb, to investigate the published content that violated the codes and standards issued by the council. The committee also decided to summon the manager of the account of Abu El Maati Zaki on YouTube due to violating content broadcasted on the channel.

In the same context, the committee summoned the legal representative of the "Ten" channel (Ten) against the backdrop of the violations observed by the specialized administration of the council in the program "Al Premo," hosted by Islam Sadik, featuring Captain Reda Abdel Aal and Captain Mahmoud Abul Dahab.

The statement clarified that these decisions are part of the council's ongoing efforts to ensure media compliance with Law No. 180 of the year 2018, and the controls and standards regulating media content, to ensure respect for professional work rules and protect the audience.
