Turkish National Team Players Robbed in Spain

Khaberni - The Spanish police are investigating the circumstances of a theft incident that occurred in the Turkish national team's locker room during their match against the Spanish team in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The Turkish national team was a guest last Tuesday against their Spanish counterparts in the match held at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, within the sixth and final round of the World Cup qualifiers.

The Spanish newspaper Marca reported that officials of the Turkish team filed a police report about the theft of an expensive watch and two rings from their locker room during the match.

The same newspaper clarified that the watch is valued at 200,000 euros, while each ring is worth about 60,000 euros, meaning that the total cost of the stolen goods reached 320,000 euros.

Initially, stadium officials received a notification from the Turkish team suggesting they might have forgotten something in the locker room "which is a relatively common occurrence," but what appeared to be forgotten turned into an official report of a potential theft, as described by Marca.

The Spanish police later confirmed that the stolen watch and rings were found and recovered in an operation that led to the arrest of at least one person, and the police did not rule out the involvement of "other participants" in the theft.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating whether the detained person and other suspects were working at the stadium or were able to sneak in and enter the Turkish national team's locker room.

The newspaper emphasized that "the investigation is still ongoing to accurately determine how the theft occurred, and to identify the parties behind it."

It should be noted that the match ended with a 2-2 draw between the teams, and thus Spain maintained its lead in Group Five with 16 points, three points ahead of Turkey.

The Spanish team has reached the finals of the World Cup scheduled next summer in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, while their Turkish counterparts will compete for a spot in the World Cup through the European playoff.
