Khaberni - The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Khamis Atiyah, confirmed that child protection and preservation of their rights represent a national, ethical, and constitutional duty, pointing out that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, has made child care a fundamental pillar in the modernization project and the building of a strong, just state.
Atiyah said, in a statement on the occasion of World Children's Day, which coincides with today, Thursday, that what the children of Gaza are subjected to in terms of killing, starvation, and displacement constitutes "the most heinous humanitarian crimes of the modern era", strongly affirming that the international community's silence on the suffering of Palestinian childhood represents an unacceptable negligence. He emphasized that Jordan will remain "the strongest voice" in exposing these crimes and defending the rights of the children of Gaza to life and dignity, continuing the political and humanitarian efforts led by His Majesty the King on various international forums.
He added that he will continue his supervisory and legislative role to ensure the protection of every child in Jordan, and to enhance the healthcare, education, and social protection system, and to address any form of violence, neglect, or exploitation, thereby ensuring a safe environment and fair opportunities for growth and development.
Atiyah concluded by affirming that "Jordan's strength begins with the protection of its children", and that any attack on a child is an assault on the values of the Jordanian state and its humanitarian principles.
