Khaberni - The legal committee in the Senate, chaired by Senator Ahmad Tabishat, approved the bill amending the National Service and Reserve Service Law for the year 2025, as received from the House of Representatives.
This took place during a meeting held by the committee on Thursday, attended by the Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni, and the Minister of State for Legal Affairs Fayad Al-Qadi.
The compelling reasons for "Khaberni" National Service are to organize provisions related to certain newly required legal aspects, to activate and implement the National Service program, the acceptable cases for its postponement, and to enable the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army to offer training programs at military centers and institutes for the draftees. This will allow the relevant educational authorities to count these programs as part of the academic requirements for university students, according to instructions issued by the Cabinet for this purpose, and also to include them as part of the requirements and duties of the National Service.
In addition to cancelling provisions that grant draftees who complete the National Service any priority in appointments in ministries, departments, government agencies, companies, and private institutions.
